His work bridges classical tradition and cinematic storytelling,
blending orchestral richness with Egyptian emotional depth.
Rageh Daoud is a leading contemporary Egyptian composer whose artistic roots were shaped by a culturally rich family environment in Cairo. Encouraged by his father, Sami Daoud—a respected journalist and writer—he developed an early passion for music and the arts. This passion led him to the Cairo Conservatoire, where he studied piano before discovering his exceptional talent for musical composition.
After thirteen years of rigorous study, Daoud graduated in 1977 with a Bachelor’s degree in Musical Composition. In 1981, he received a scholarship to pursue advanced studies at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna, where he refined his craft under renowned European composers. In 1988, he earned the Magister Artium and Postgraduate Diploma—the institution’s highest qualification, equivalent to a doctorate in the arts.
